Quotes of the Day II

Octavia Nasr, CNN chief Middle East correspondent for twenty years tweeted,

Sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah… One of Hezbollah’s giants I respect a lot.

Yesterday, she was fired.

Josh Marshall at TPM did a little sleuthing and questions the extent of Fadlallah’s Hezbollah connection – and thus the degree of his odiousness? Read up for yourself here.

Marshall writes,

a twenty year run down the tubes over 140 characters?

That just doesn’t seem right to me.

Are Nasr”s twenty years worth more than McChrystal‘s thirty? Marshall had no problem with that career end.  What would Marshall think” right” if the subject of Nasr’s tweet had been David Duke or Jean-Marie Le Pen?

What’s ambiguous or misspoken about “sad to hear” and “I respect a lot”?
